Short summary
Deep geological repositories are considered one of the safest solutions for the long-term disposal of nuclear waste. This paper presents an overview of an experiment conducted at the BedrettoLab, Switzerland, where a new 100 m long tunnel was excavated in granite at a depth of 1300 m to investigate excavation-induced rock damage and its time-dependent evolution.
